We are looking forward to hosting the 2026 USS Stoddard Alumni Reunion in Omaha, Nebraska later this year. The Omaha Metropolitan area, located in extreme Eastern Nebraska on the Missouri River, has a population in excess of 1 million people. Omaha is the home to the headquarters of four Fortune 500 companies: Berkshire Hathaway, Kiewit Corporation, Mutual of Omaha, and Union Pacific Corporation. Other notable companies headquartered in the city include First National Bank of Omaha, Gallup, Inc., Valmont Industries, Werner Enterprises, Woodman Life, and three of the nation's ten largest architecture and engineering firms (DLR Group, HDR, Inc., and Leo A Daly). Notable cultural attractions include the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium (Often rated as the top zoo in the United States), Old Market, Durham Museum, Lauritzen Gardens, and the annual College World Series.

Offutt Air Force Base

Offutt Air Force Base is home of the 55th Wing, the Fightin' Fifty-Fifth, which is the largest wing in Air Combat Command and the second largest in the Air Force. Offutt is a beautiful community situated near the Missouri River in the rolling hills of southeastern Nebraska. Offutt AFB provides worldwide reconnaissance, command and control, and combat support critical to warfighting commanders and national leadership. It is also the home of the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) a Unified Combatant Command of the Department of Defense.

Freedom Park

We will definitely be going here. Freedom Park serves as a United States Naval Museum on the Missouri River and is home to the USS Marlin SST-2 Submarine and the USS Hazard AM-240 Minesweeper, Anchor and Propeller Garden, Shipboard Rocket Launchers and a Douglas A-4D Skyhawk Jet Fighter and other aircraft.

USS Hazard AM-240
To run, or take the risk of; to venture upon; dangerous, risky. The USS Hazard (AM-240) was launched on May 21, 1944, and commissioned October 31, 1944 by the Winslow Marine Railway Shipbuilding Corporation of Winslow, WA. The Hazard was fitted for both wire and acoustic sweeping and could double as an anti-submarine warfare platform. The Admirable-class minesweepers were also used for patrol and escort duties during WWII.
USS Marlin SST-2
A large deep-sea game fish. The USS Marlin was laid down on May 1, 1952, by the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation and launched on October 14, 1953. One of the smallest operational submarines ever built for the Navy, Marlin performed as a target and training ship for fifteen years.
The Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial honors the 396 Nebraska military personnel who were Killed In Action (KIA) during the Vietnam War and an additional four Sailors from the USS Evans. The Memorial includes an honor wall bearing their names; a restored UH-1 Huey helicopter and rescue display; 11 obelisks creating a historical journey through the events of the Vietnam War; flag poles for the flags of the United States, POW/MIA, and five branches of the U.S. Military; benches and greenspace for reflection and rest; and technological enhancements to sustain the experience and viability of the Memorial long-term connected to the Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation (NVVMF) website www.NVVMF.org.
